Robe and Alms Bowl Pavilion

About 200 meters south of the Meiguan Pass Tower, nestled within a tranquil valley, stands the "Robe and Alms Bowl Pavilion," in which a revered alms bowl of the Sixth Patriarch (also called the "Robe and Alms Bowl Stone") is firmly enshrined. In fact, a legend related to the Sixth Patriarch Huineng is associated with this site.

The plum blossom, proud and pure as it braves frost and snow, has always been adored by people. The ancient Meiguan Road is the best-preserved ancient post road in China. Its uniquely vibrant plum blossom scenery has attracted literati and poets throughout history to admire the blossoms, compose poetry, and carve inscriptions on steles—truly a path "lined with plum blossoms and poetry." Lu Kai, a famous general of the Eastern Wu during the Three Kingdoms period, wrote in his poem "To Fan Ye": "I pluck a plum and meet the courier, / To send it to someone beyond the mountain pass. / There's nothing much I have in the south, / But I offer you a spray of spring." This poem is the first recorded plum blossom verse from Meiling Mountain and has been passed down through the ages.

Transportation

By car: Starting from Shaoguan, enter the Shaoguan–Ganzhou Expressway, exit at Meiguan Ancient Road, then turn onto National Highway G323. Drive straight along G323 and look for the sign on your right indicating the “Meiguan Ancient Road Scenic Area Parking Lot.”

By bus: Take a direct bus from the square of Shaoguan East Railway Station to Nanxiong City Bus Terminal, then transfer to a local bus heading to Meiguan Ancient Road.
