The former site of the Expanded Meeting of the CPC Wuling Regional Committee is a classic red tourism destination and a base for patriotic education.

The former site of the “Expanded Meeting of the CPC Wuling Regional Committee” is located in Shanghu Village, Dengfang Town, of the city. The natural villages under its jurisdiction—including Yangwu, Xikeng, Xiaodongkeng, Lihetian, Anhu, and Siggongdi—were part of the guerrilla zone during the Second Revolutionary Civil War period in Nanxiong City. The former site of the “Expanded Meeting of the CPC Wuling Regional Committee” served as the temporary headquarters for guerrilla operations at that time. In order to implement the Nanxiong Municipal Party Committee’s strategy of “promoting the Soviet Area brand and following the ecological development path,” and to further explore the city’s red tourism culture, the city secured nearly 200,000 yuan in funding to restore the former site of the “Expanded Meeting of the CPC Wuling Regional Committee.” This effort strengthened the excavation, rescue, restoration, and preservation of revolutionary heritage sites. To further promote revolutionary traditions and carry forward the spirit of the Soviet Area, the city developed the former site of the “Expanded Meeting of the CPC Wuling Regional Committee” into a “Patriotic Education Base.”

Shanghu Village: Shanghu Village is a revolutionary old base area and a remote, underdeveloped mountainous region. It is situated in the northeastern part of Dengfang Town, Nanxiong City, approximately 40 kilometers from downtown Nanxiong and about 14 kilometers from the town government seat. The highest elevation reaches 850 meters. The village covers an area of 15 square kilometers, with forested land spanning 21,000 mu, including 14,500 mu of timber forests, 4,500 mu of bamboo forests, 320 mu of oil tea forests, and 2,200 mu of fruit and economic tree forests.
