Pearl Stone Pagoda

The Pearl Stone Pagoda is a cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province.

The Yuan Dynasty Nanxiong Pearl Stone Pagoda is located in the ancient Pearl Lane, Zhuji Town, Nanxiong City. Built in the 10th year of the Zhizheng era of the Yuan Dynasty (1350), it is an octagonal, seven-tiered solid pagoda made of stone. The entire pagoda is assembled by stacking 17 carved red sandstone blocks and stands 3.36 meters tall. The base is octagonal and positioned over an ancient well. The first tier is a lotus pedestal, with an octagonal column above it featuring relief carvings of the Four Heavenly Kings and inscriptions reading “Re-erected by Sun Chaolie, Deputy Prefect of Nanxiong Route, in the tenth month of the Gengyin year of the Zhizheng era of the Yuan Dynasty” and others. The second to fourth tiers all have lotus pedestals, with their octagonal columns covered in relief carvings of Buddha figures. The fifth tier has a lotus pedestal and a drum-shaped body engraved with human faces and lotus patterns. The sixth tier has an inverted lotus pedestal, with its octagonal column carved with Buddha images. The seventh tier consists of a lotus pedestal with a drum-shaped body. The finial is in the shape of a gourd. This pagoda is one of the few in Guangdong with a verifiable absolute date, and a pavilion was added to protect it in 1984.

In December 1979, it was designated as a cultural relic protection unit by the Guangdong Provincial Revolutionary Committee.

Zhuji Village: Zhuji Village is located close to the town center of Zhuji Town, predominantly characterized by hilly terrain, and lies 0 kilometers from the town government. The village administers 18 natural villages including Waixiang, Chengongmiao, and Xiaokeng, with 601 households and a total population of 2,405. It has 1,050 mu of arable land and 7,000 mu of forested land. The village infrastructure is relatively well-developed, with all roads paved. The village leadership is fully staffed, including 3 members of the Party branch, 6 members of the village committee, and 18 village group leaders. There are 51 Party members in the village.
