Hongmei Sicheng

Hongmei Sicheng is located in Zhongzhan Village, Meiling Town, Nanxiong County, also known as Zhongzhan City. According to the Qing Dynasty's "Records of Directly Administered Nanxiong Prefecture," the city was built in December of the 31st year of the Jiajing reign during the Ming Dynasty (1552) and once served as the office of the Hongmei Subprefecture Patrol Inspector. The city faces east and is square-shaped, covering an area of 32,000 square meters. The wall foundations are constructed from bluish-gray rocks, with the upper sections being rammed earth walls. Currently, the southern wall has a remaining length of 20 meters and a height of 4 meters; the eastern wall has a remaining length of 25 meters. Within the city, there are houses built with blue bricks, which bear the inscription “Made in the 44th year of the Qianlong reign (1779),” indicating that the site was renovated during the Qing Dynasty.
