Measuring 1.1 meters in height and 2.3 meters in width, with characters approximately 10×15 cm in size, investigations suggest that this slogan was written in the summer of 1932.
The content is:
Establish a Soviet government
Overthrow the Kuomintang government
Organize workers’ and peasants’ Red Guards
Eliminate the gentry and the Peace Preservation Corps
Dear workers, unite spontaneously
Join the workers’ and peasants’ armed forces
Eliminate the armed forces of the gentry and landlords
March onto the battlefield
Wipe out the White Army in southern Jiangxi
Capture Yu Hanmou alive
Made by Red Star Bing, Youth Group One
Another one reads:
The Red Army does not kill enemy soldiers who surrender (6) Fourth Army of the Red Army
Support the Provisional Central Soviet Government !
(2) are preserved in the building walls of Chen Fulin’s residence in Zhongzhan Village, Meiling Town, Nanxiong County. There are two slogans here. One says “The Red Army does not kill enemy soldiers who surrender,” written in black ink, stretching 6 meters in length with characters 55×60 cm in size, ending with the number six and signed “Fourth Army of the Red Army.” The other reads “Support the Provisional Central Soviet Government,” written in red ink, 6.6 meters long with characters 55×70 cm in size, but the signature at the end is unrecognizable.
(3) are preserved in Jiaowan Village, Meiling Town, Nanxiong. The first one, “Tiao Shi Ma -” (Call to Scold -), is located on the outer wall of the entrance to Nie Bangying’s residence. It is 2.2 meters wide and 1 meter high, with lyrics in characters about 4×5 cm in size. Jiaowan Village was a place frequently passed through by the Red Army. From early 1929, spring 1930, and summer 1932, main Red Army forces passed through the village, staying there twice. On both occasions, the Red Army wrote numerous slogans and poems.
