Xizi Pagoda in Pinglin Village is a cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province.

Xizi Pagoda in Pinglin Village is located about half a kilometer west of Pinglin Village, Youshan Town, Nanxiong City, and was built beside a bridge on a riverside terrace. The pagoda has a hexagonal floor plan, three stories, is 7.2 meters tall, and is a hollow brick tower in the pavilion style. This pagoda was built during the Ming Dynasty when Bo Dao, a descendant of Confucius, settled in Pinglin. The Kong family also built the Konglin Academy in Pinglin, which no longer exists. The Xizi Pagoda was built in coordination with the academy. In ancient times, people cherished written paper and did not discard it casually. This pagoda was used for burning used paper, hence the name “Xizi Pagoda” (Pagoda for Respecting Written Characters). A small door is located on the north and south sides of the first floor, 0.8 meters above ground level, 0.6 meters high and 0.4 meters wide—this served as the entrance for burning paper. It has been listed as a key cultural relic protection unit of Nanxiong City.

On December 10, 2015, Xizi Pagoda in Pinglin Village was approved and announced by the People's Government of Guangdong Province as part of the eighth batch of Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relic Protection Units.

Pinglin Village: The Pinglin Village Committee is located in the northern part of Youshan Town, Nanxiong City, covering a total area of 19.96 square kilometers. It has 4,236 mu of arable land, 31,215 mu of mountainous land, and 24,289.5 mu of forested area, including 217 mu of bamboo forest. The forest includes species such as pine, fir, and bamboo. It administers 16 villager groups and 13 natural villages, with 513 households and a population of 2,200.
