Tsuyama City

Tsuyama City is a city located in the northern part of Okayama Prefecture, the third-largest city in the prefecture, and the central city of the Mimasaka region. Its jurisdiction mainly covers the Tsuyama Basin, with the Chūgoku Mountains to the west and north, the Mimasaka Plateau to the east, and the Kibi Plateau to the south.

Tsuyama City is home to Mimasaka University, Mimasaka Junior College, and Tsuyama National College of Technology. Tourist attractions include Tsuruyama Park (ruins of Tsuyama Castle), Shūraku-en (former detached garden of the Tsuyama Domain), Jōtōchō Street Preservation District (Tsuyama Western Learning Museum, former residence of Miki Kōhō, former Kajimura family residence, Saikushū Jōtō-yashiki, Kōno Art Museum), Tagamachi former samurai residences ruins, and Nakayama Shrine (the Ichinomiya shrine of Mimasaka Province). A variety of vibrant festivals are also not to be missed, including the Fukutoku Aragami Grand Festival, Tsuyama Cherry Blossom Festival, Nakayama Shrine Taue Festival, Tsuyama Summer Spirit Festival, and Tsuyama Festival.
