"Momotaro" Appears in Taipei City! The Regular Flight from Okayama, Japan, Has Been Launched

Momotaro has come to Taiwan! To celebrate the official launch of the new regular Taipei–Okayama flight, Japan’s Okayama Prefecture has specially created 50 “Momotaro buses” that roam around Taipei City. Travelers who spot these Momotaro buses on the streets might want to take a closer look at this mysterious visitor from Okayama—its bright red cheeks are both adorable and charming.

Known as the “hometown of Momotaro,” Okayama in Japan is located in the Chūgoku region and was historically called “Kibi Province.” In addition to exploring traces of the Momotaro legend, the area is just a 40-minute drive away from “Osaka,” a beloved travel destination for Taiwanese tourists. With over 270 rain-free days a year, Okayama is also known as the “Land of Sunshine.” Popular sites such as Okayama’s famous Korakuen Garden—one of Japan’s top three traditional gardens—are highly favored by travelers.

The new regular Taipei–Okayama (Japan) flight began service on April 3rd. Its morning departure and afternoon return schedule is perfect for Taiwanese travelers (EVA Air departs at 10:15 AM; the return flight leaves Osaka at 4:15 PM local time and arrives in Taipei at 6:05 PM), operating twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
