Magong Chenghuang Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Magong Chenghuang Temple, also known as Ma Gong Chenghuang Temple, is a historic temple located in Magong City, Penghu County, Taiwan, dedicated to the God of the City God (Chenghuangye). It is the second officially established Chenghuang Temple in the Penghu region, following the Wenao Chenghuang Temple, and is designated as a third-grade historic site by the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of China.

Magong Chenghuang Temple was first built in 1777 (the 42nd year of the Qianlong reign in the Qing Dynasty) and completed in 1779 (the 44th year of the Qianlong reign in the Qing Dynasty). In 1885, during the Sino-French War, the French army occupied Penghu and the temple was burned down. It was rebuilt in 1886 by Magistrate Cheng Bangji at its current location in Chongqing Li, Magong City. Later, in 1889, when the Penghu Administrative Office moved to Magong, the official worship status of Magong Chenghuang Temple was solidified.

The original Magong Chenghuang Temple was a three-courtyard structure with side wings. Due to Penghu’s location in the middle of the strait, where it is often affected by strong winds, the temple has undergone several renovations over time. The appearance of the Magong Chenghuang Temple as we see it today was established in 1932, featuring a five-bay, two-courtyard, two-gallery courtyard-style building. The entrance hall displays plaques inscribed with “Repentance Comes Too Late” (悔者遲) and “Here You Come” (你來了), donated by Magistrate Cheng Bangji. Behind the entrance hall is a double-eaved hip-and-gable roofed worship pavilion. The main hall enshrines the God of the City God, flanked by the Civil and Martial Judges. The left chamber of the main hall houses the Goddess of Birth (Zhusheng Niangniang), while the right chamber enshrines the Goddess of the Water Margin (Linshui Furen). The east and west wing rooms are dedicated to the Record Office, Yin-Yang Office, Virtue-Praising Office, Longevity Office, Swift Report Office, and Punishment Office.
