Penghu selected as one of the “World’s Most Beautiful Bays” — ranked alongside San Francisco Bay and Ha Long Bay

Want to admire one of the world’s most beautiful bays? No need to go abroad — you can now see it in Penghu, Taiwan. The “World’s Most Beautiful Bays Association,” dedicated to preserving the natural resources of global bays,recently announced that Penghu, Taiwan has officially become a member, making Penghu’s bays future peers with those of San Francisco, USA and Ha Long Bay, Vietnam.

Penghu features unique basalt landforms and rich marine ecological scenery. As early as 2011, Penghu was listed by the travel bible “Lonely Planet” as one of the “10 Secret Islands You Must Visit,” boosting its international visibility. At this year’s ITB Berlin, the beauty of Penghu was also integrated into the design of the Taiwan Pavilion, with a video showcasing Penghu’s bays along with Taiwan’s stunning landscapes and delicious cuisine, helping raise its profile in Europe.

Galip Gur, President of the “World’s Most Beautiful Bays Association,” stated that Penghu’s bays possess unique beauty, and the concerted efforts of the local county government and residents have contributed to this recognition. Penghu County Magistrate Wang Gan-fa proudly noted that “this marks the first step for Penghu’s tourism on the international stage.” Going forward, he said efforts will be intensified to promote Penghu’s tourism, including marketing events such as the Penghu Fireworks Festival and the International Marathon, using diverse themed activities to attract more international visitors.The membership medal of the “World’s Most Beautiful Bays Association” will also be awarded to Penghu within the Taiwan Pavilion at the ITB Berlin on the 7th,by the President.
