The beauty of Penghu has amazed the world — it was named one of the “10 Secret Islands You Must Visit Before You Die” by Lonely Planet Magazine in 2011, and this year it successfully applied to become a member of the “World’s Most Beautiful Bays.” The Penghu National Scenic Area Administration has been promoting the “Fresh Fun in Penghu” campaign for years, and in 2014, it collaborated especially with Lion Travel.They have once again created three themed tours: “Stone Weirs,” “Intertidal Zones,” and “Lighthouses,” including the Jibei Stone Weir Cultural Experience Camp, the Huxi Intertidal Zone Eco Experience Camp, and the Qimei Dongji Guardianship Experience Camp.These allow visitors to experience the uniquely beautiful side of travel in Penghu.

In these tours, experienced local guides will lead visitors to gain an in-depth understanding of the unique features of Jibei Stone Weir culture, experience firsthand the ancient wisdom of stone weir construction, observe marine ecology in the Huxi intertidal zone, and appreciate the beauty of one of Penghu’s eight scenic wonders — “The Radiance of Linked Walls.”The “2014 Fresh Fun in Penghu” also exclusively launches, for the first time, a two-day, one-night “Qimei Dongji Guardianship Experience Camp” with a lighthouse theme. Visitors can explore Taiwan’s earliest Western-style lighthouse — the Yuwengdao Lighthouse, the once bustling Dongji Islet Lighthouse, and the Qimei Lighthouse.In each tour, in addition to immersing oneself in the beauty of Penghu’s ecology and culture, there are also specially arranged low-carbon travel options such as kayaking, electric scooter trials, and cycling, as well as experiences featuring local ingredient-based cuisine and eco-friendly lodging.

Each themed tour in the “2014 Fresh Fun in Penghu” will be offered in four sessions, with a limit of 25 people per session. A limited photography tour is also available, in collaboration with photography expert Uncle Jerry, allowing participants to capture and record the most beautiful sights in Penghu through their lenses.
