Could there be a romantic lovers’ route in the well-known tourist destination of Penghu? As winter draws to a close, the “2014 Penghu Love Season” runs from February 12 to April 10. Today (21st), the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration, together with the Penghu County Government, announced the island’s “Four Happiness Secrets.” Surprisingly, these four spots form a heart shape when viewed on the Penghu map, sparking much discussion among locals.

“You can still visit Penghu in the low season. Falling in love in Penghu during winter, with the cold northeast monsoon, brings couples even closer. Now, Penghu isn’t as crowded as in peak season, giving lovers more space to enjoy the scenery.”Zhang Longcheng, Director of the Penghu National Scenic Area AdministrationAlso recommends one of the itineraries:Suogang. Zhang Longcheng explained that couples should first visit the North and South Towers in Suogang – symbolizing “locking in love,” then walk along the shore to the Kuibi Mountain Tide-Walking Trail, which only appears at low tide – symbolizing “until the seas run dry and the rocks crumble” and “walking toward happiness.” Next, they head to the romantic Lover’s Bridge – symbolizing “holding hands for a lifetime,” and finally visit Taiwan’s oldest Tianhou Temple to “witness their love.” These four spots connect to form a heart-shaped loop around the island.

Chen Meiling, Director of the Penghu County Government Tourism Departmentstated that in 2013, Penghu welcomed over 950,000 visitors, showing significant growth in both peak and off-peak seasons. This year, coinciding with the “201314 – Love You for a Lifetime” date of special significance, upcoming occasions such as Western Valentine’s Day, the 228 holiday, and White Valentine’s Day offer even more romantic tourism opportunities beyond the usual peak season.

The “2014 Penghu Love Season” itinerary is offered as a package deal through EasyTravel, in partnership with Uni Air, Mandarin Airlines, and TransAsia Airways. Prices start at NT$3,999 for a two-day-one-night stay and NT$5,999 for a three-day-two-night stay, including flights, upgraded lover’s suites, and a rental car. The first 100 couples to book will also receive a free trial voucher for EasyTravel’s Island Star train ticket.
