Xiangfu Temple in Deyang is a cultural relic protection unit of Sichuan Province.

Introduction to Xiangfu Temple in Deyang "The foremost among all zen forests, the foremost among monks, flying freely eastward and westward as they please. The secrets lie within the robe and bowl, generation after generation attaining supreme enlightenment here." This poem was composed by the renowned Hanlin academician of the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong era, Li Diaoyuan, during his visit to Xiangfu Temple in Mianzhu. Li Diaoyuan’s inscription helped spread the fame of Mianzhu’s Xiangfu Temple as the “Foremost Zen Forest” far and wide. Covering an area of over 30 acres, Xiangfu Temple is a grand, towering temple complex and a renowned ancient monastery with a history of a thousand years. It was first built during the Tang Dynasty and received its name during the Dazhong Xiangfu era of the Northern Song Dynasty. Beside the temple, within Mianzhu Park, lies the tomb of Zen Master Guifeng Zongmi, who lived during the Tang Dynasty and was built in the first year of the Huichang era (841 AD). According to historical records, in the fifth year of the Yuanhe era (811 AD), Zen Master Guifeng once traveled to Shu (ancient name for Sichuan), where he held a Dharma assembly at what is now Xiangfu Temple in Mianzhu.

Protection Area: East to 5 meters beyond the eastern edge of the Arhat Hall, south to 10 meters beyond the outer wall of the Screen Wall, west to 5 meters beyond the western edge of the Arhat Hall, north to 5 meters beyond the northern edge of the Jade Buddha Hall.

Construction Control Zone: East to 30 meters beyond the eastern edge of the protection area, south to 25 meters beyond the southern edge of the protection area, west to 25 meters beyond the western edge of the protection area, north to 30 meters beyond the northern edge of the protection area.
