The Hsinchu City International Kite Festival kicks off this weekend with giant SpongeBob and Spider-Man flying high!

"2017 Hsinchu City International Kite Festival"On August 26 and 27, the festival will be held at the Hsinchu Fishing Port International Kite Competition Ground, featuring kite competitions by expert teams from seven countries in Europe, America, and Asia, as well as live demonstrations of large themed kites by both domestic and international kite masters, complete with stunt kite performances!

The Hsinchu City International Kite Festival features dozens of kite designs such as winged pterosaurs, SpongeBob, and Spider-Man, themed around "Finding Nemo," "Jurassic Park," and "Anime Mania." The event will showcase large software kites, string kites, stunt kites, and glow-in-the-dark kites soaring across the sky.

The Hsinchu City Government has built Taiwan’s largest international kite competition ground, upgrading the facilities at Nanliao Fishing Port and laying out 8 hectares of wide-open grassland. The International Kite Festival includes various family-friendly activities and diverse children's theater performances. The Hsinchu City Government invites everyone to come to Nanliao this weekend to enjoy the sea breeze, fly kites, eat seafood, and experience the vibrant coastal charm of Nanliao.

The "Eco-Love Earth Kite Exchange Event" allows the public to exchange 5 discarded CDs or 5 used batteries for one limited-edition DIY kite featuring the 2017 International Kite Festival theme. There is also a "Check-in to Get a Kite" event, giving away small ant-painted kites designed by international kite master Huang Jingzhen, limited to 100 pieces!
