Zhubei City to Add 5 More YouBike Stations – Green Transport Network to "Explore Xiangshan Thoroughly"

Zhubei City’s YouBike system is expected to expand into new locations by mid-Decemberat five railway stations: Xinzhuang, Qianjia, Beixinzhu, Sanxingqiao, and Xiangshan, thereby completing the goal of YouBike presence in every district. After arriving at the train stations, the public can immediately transfer to a YouBike. Combining bicycles with rail transit not only makes commuting and school travel more convenient but also enables visitors to "explore Xiangshan thoroughly."

Zhubei City’s YouBike system officially launched in May and has since established 21 stations. By mid-December, 5 additional stations will be added to cover all city districts. The public bicycle network and railway stations will form an integrated green transportation network across the city, making commuting and school travel easier for residents. The system is expected to surpass 500,000 users.

The city government stated that the public can take the train and ride a YouBike to experience one of the “Eight Scenic Spots of Zhulian,” the Xiangshan Sunset, taste local craft beer and wood-fired pizza, and enjoy glass handicrafts and century-old handmade rice noodles with family. They can also take leisurely bike rides to historic sites such as the Tianhou Temple and ancient official roads, engaging in a cycling journey through nature, culture, and artisan traditions. Meanwhile, construction projects including the Xiangshan Wetland Ecological Park, the Haishan Fishing Harbor Sunset Viewing Trail, the renovation of Meishan Security Checkpoint, and the installation of a crab-watching trail will soon commence, forming a complete Xiangshan mini-travel route. With a YouBike, exploring Xiangshan becomes even more convenient.

YouBike stations will also be set up at Xinzhuang Station. Users can cycle downstream along Kezihu Creek to Qianjia Station near the Headwaters of the Qianzhuang River, enjoying the riverside scenery along the way. Beixinzhu Station is located close to Zhubei Industrial High School, meeting the commuting needs of nearby residential communities. Sanxingqiao Station serves Xiangshan High School and three universities—China University, Yuanpei University, and Xuanzang University—benefiting over 40,000 individuals.

The Transportation Department stated that YouBike stations have been set up in all administrative districts, and more will be added to ensure that residents have access to a YouBike station within a 10-minute walk on average. Additionally, Zhubei City Government has proposed a plan to extend the public bicycle system into the Hsinchu Science Park to the Hsinchu Science Park Administration, which has reached preliminary consensus. The initiative aims to foster a "park-city collaboration" to build a cycling lifestyle circle, meet citizens’ commuting needs, reduce reliance on cars and motorcycles, and alleviate traffic congestion.
