Liuguang Lake Scenic Area

Liuguang Lake was formed after the construction of new water conservancy projects. The lake features a vast surface with crystal-clear water, crisscrossing branches, and a winding shoreline. With shimmering blue waves, birds flying and fish leaping, the area spans 195 hectares. It includes one bridge, three islands, nine wells, and eighteen bays.

The “one bridge” refers to the Duxian Bridge, which is made of peculiar rocks. When the lake water recedes to a certain level, this marvelous and naturally formed bridge can be seen. The three small islands cover an area of around 100 hectares in total. They offer cool summers and warm winters, along with beautiful scenery, making them perfect spots for rest and recreation. Among them, Fengxing Island is currently under development for a high-standard summer resort. The “nine wells” generally refer to the abundant underground water in the lake—there are actually more than nine. One of these wells is the “Ziwu Tide,” located beneath the strange peaks and rocks at Banqiao Temple. Five to six water spurts as large as waterwheels often emerge here. Strangely, every day at the Zi hour (11 p.m.–1 a.m.) and Wu hour (11 a.m.–1 p.m.), the water suddenly rises three feet higher. If you move your feet too slowly near the well, you may be submerged by the tide. Once that time passes, the tide recedes. Thus, it was named the Ziwu (Midnight and Noon) Tide by ancestors.

Liuguang Lake winds through towering mountains and hills, featuring many winding bays such as Moon Bay, Peach Blossom Bay, and a total of eighteen bays. Each bay offers a unique experience for visitors. The lakeside is flanked by verdant mountains and clear waters, with birds singing and flowers fragrant. The western shore is home to a 150-hectare forest park, surrounded by undulating, overlapping mountain ridges and lush green forests. The mountains gain clarity from the water, and the water gains beauty from the mountains. Together, the landscape creates a pleasant and picturesque scene.
