After the vast Taipei County was upgraded to New Taipei City, it became Taiwan’s most populous city. With its lush mountains, clear waters, coastal and mountainous landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and a blend of traditional and modern elements, New Taipei City showcases the most dynamic energy among Taiwan’s five special municipalities.

The *New Taipei City Art Tour*, published by the New Taipei City Government’s Department of Cultural Affairs, serves as a comprehensive guide to museums and art and cultural information in the city. It is an information-rich publication that brings together the most detailed and extensive coverage of New Taipei City’s arts and culture scene. For the year 2011, the *New Taipei City Art Tour* was compiled by Times New Knowledge Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Want Want China Times Media Group. With the city’s upgrade, the magazine has also been elevated—starting from the April issue, which was produced by Times New Knowledge Development, the page count has increased to 80 pages, featuring a more spacious layout and richer content. The editorial team aims to incorporate more diverse and abundant arts and cultural information from all 29 districts of the city.

The layout of the report columns has also been completely redesigned. The special feature sections include: Cultural Art Tour, Cultural Art Appreciation, Fun Art Play, Flowing Notes, Frontier of Beauty, Artistic Aesthetics, Navigating the Sea of Art, Time-Travel Journey, Reading by the Eaves, and Literary Guide. The activity information columns feature segments such as Citizens’ Cinema, Parent-Child Story House, New Taipei City Art Shuttle, and Art Tour Crawl. To help readers plan activities that best suit them, a comprehensive activity guide has been specially created, categorized into five types: exhibitions, theater and dance, events, music, and lectures/workshops, making it easier for citizens to search for activity information and arrange their own arts and cultural leisure time.

Key events in this issue include: the 2011 New Taipei City Zhonghe Water Festival, the 2011 New Taipei City Mazu Culture Festival, the 13th Line Museum’s 8th Anniversary Celebration on April 24, the 2011 Tucheng Tung Blossom Festival, the 2011 New Taipei City Children’s Art Month, Paul Robeson – A Night of Classic Soul, and the Tamsui Fort San Domingo’s Joyful April.
