It’s not uncommon to view static paintings, but stepping into famous artworks and interacting with them is truly cool. The “Mona Lisa Speaks – World Classic Art Magic Exhibition” currently being held at the National Science and Technology Museum is entering its final countdown. The organizers have launched a series of special promotions, and the public is encouraged to seize the opportunity to visit and enjoy activities such as stepping into paintings, free coffee, family discounts, and winning gifts through games.
The Director of the National Taiwan Science Education Center, Chu Nan-hsien, stated that the “Mona Lisa Speaks” exhibition has attracted over 100,000 visitors in two months, receiving an enthusiastic response. Zheng Yao-ting, the curator and General Manager of Xianglong Company, mentioned that to remind more people to come, the organizers have planned a series of countdown events, with special offers every week during the remaining three weeks of the exhibition.
The first event is the “Mona Lisa Family Day,” which will call on 100,000 young artists to paint their own versions of the Mona Lisa. Starting March 27, families visiting the Mona Lisa special exhibition can first pick up special drawing paper at the ticket counter on the 7th floor. Once children complete their artwork on-site, they can enter the exhibition for free. One adult may bring one young artist, and visitors are reminded to bring their own art supplies.
During the Family Day event, the organizers have specially arranged clowns to play games with the children. In the ticketing area on the first floor, there will be several classic painting panels where visitors can stand behind them and take photos dressed as characters from masterpieces like the Mona Lisa.
The second wave of activities will take place during the consecutive holiday period from April 2 to 5. The public can first download and print the “Buy Two, Get One Free Coffee Voucher” from the website, and then exchange it for free coffee at the Van Gogh Under the Starry Sky Café in the exhibition area.
Van Gogh’s 1888 work “Café Terrace at Night” depicts the scenery of an unnamed café in a lane in Arles, southern France. Van Gogh once stayed here for an extended period to create art, making it somewhat of a sanctuary for the mentally tormented artist. In the painting, the distant cobalt-blue sky sparkles with stars, contrasting beautifully with the warm yellow lights of the nearby café.
The final week’s special offer is the “I Love Mona Lisa Megaphone” – Lucky Wheel Lottery event. From April 9 to April 15, visitors can download the “I Love Mona Lisa Megaphone” event voucher from the official website and use it on-site to participate in the Lucky Wheel Lottery. By shouting “I love Mona Lisa” into a decibel meter, participants whose sound level exceeds 110 decibels can spin the Lucky Wheel once. Those who exceed 135 decibels can spin twice.
By spinning the Lucky Wheel, participants can win a variety of free exhibition shopping cash vouchers and souvenir items, including NT$250 exhibition shopping cash vouchers, exhibition commemorative T-shirts, notebooks, mugs, tumblers, keychains, multi-purpose cards, and other great gifts. Everyone who participates wins a prize.
