Since its inception in 2011, “New Taipei City Christmas Town” has, in just a few years, continuously built up Taiwan’s capacity to host large-scale international festivals and gradually gained international recognition: it was selected by global magazine Harper's Bazaar as one of the “19 Most Stunning Christmas Trees in the World,” praised by Forbes for using projection technology to create a 360-degree Christmas tree, ranked first in the “Top 10 Asian Christmas Celebrations” by online media, and covered by Singapore’s The Straits Times. This year, New Taipei became the only city in Taiwan to be awarded the International Festival & Events Association (IFEA)’s Global Festival & Event City Award.

This year’s “New Taipei City Christmas Town” achieved another milestone for Taiwan, earning a recommendation from the official website of Singapore Changi Airport. It stands alongside Hong Kong’s Winterfest, Tokyo’s Christmas Market, and Singapore’s Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay as one of “Asia’s 4 Unimaginably Perfect Christmas Markets.” The feature especially highlighted how New Taipei City Christmas Town—with its vibrant colors, astonishing 3D projection mapping, artisan markets, and light shows and Santa Bear stage at the station square—attracted global visitors eager to immerse themselves in the festive Christmas spirit, truly making it a “Light of Taiwan.”

In addition to being featured by Singapore Changi Airport, “2017 New Taipei City Christmas Town” was also extensively covered by Hong Kong’s widely respected Chinese-language free newspaper am730 in an article titled “New Taipei City in Taiwan: A Must-See Christmas.” On December 6, The Irish Times published stunning photos of the Blue Hour Tunnel in its Images of the Day. Middle Eastern media outlet Emirates24/7 commended the event for significantly boosting New Taipei City’s global image. Thai travel platform “K@POOK TRAVEL” and the Japanese version of TripAdvisor also feature numerous positive reviews from visitors who experienced the wonders of New Taipei City Christmas Town firsthand. Additionally, popular Thai YouTuber BABYMOJIKO visited the event and uploaded a video that garnered over 250,000 views. With extensive international media coverage and glowing reviews, New Taipei City Christmas Town has truly become a source of pride for Taiwan—not just lighting up New Taipei, but dazzling the world.
