“New Taipei City’s Joyful Christmas Town” officially opens on November 15 with a vibrant celebration, featuring guest appearances by leading members of Japan’s hugely popular idol group “Nogizaka46,” Sayuri Matsumura and Kazumi Takayama, who will be present to light up the town and inaugurate the event.

Popular member Sayuri Matsumura, a first-generation member of Nogizaka46, has visited Taiwan before alongside other group members to film commercials for a convenience store chain, and has also appeared at manga expos for the group’s dating simulation mobile game. She is no stranger to Taiwanese fans. Kazumi Takayama, also a first-generation member, is the first Nogizaka46 member to debut as a novelist and has appeared in both TV dramas and films.

Earlier this year, Nogizaka46 held a sold-out concert in Taiwan that was hugely popular with young fans. Their special appearance to light up “New Taipei City’s Joyful Christmas Town” marks another highlight, and organizers hope to invite them again for other events in New Taipei next year if possible.

Named “Japan’s No.1 Overseas Christmas Travel Destination,” New Taipei City’s Joyful Christmas Town features a dazzling 360-degree multi-layered light sculpture show themed around “Twin Towers and One Tree — A Global First.” Don’t miss the lighting ceremony on November 15 at New Taipei City’s Civic Plaza, where you can experience the magical atmosphere of the festive town together with Nogizaka46.
