Hongqiao

Hongqiao

Hongqiao is a cultural relic protection unit of Hunan Province.

As the eastern gateway to Baoqing, Hongqiao boasts a long history with over a thousand years of establishment. It is rich in cultural relics and tourism resources. The Hongqiao bridge is 56 meters long, 7 meters wide, and 8 meters high, featuring six arches. A long covered pavilion stands atop the bridge, housing the Seven Saints Hall. The Hongqiao Pu area along Dadao East Road still retains numerous historic relics, exuding an antique charm and timeless elegance. The former residence of Yuan Guoping, former head of the Political Department of the New Fourth Army, is about 1.5 kilometers from Hongqiao, while the former home of General Xie Song, commander of the 29th Red Army, lies less than 2.5 kilometers away. In addition, within several kilometers of the Shao River basin around Hongqiao, there have been many notable historical figures, such as Yang Jinlong, a Jiangnan military governor, and educator Li Baogui, making the area rich in cultural heritage.
