Gufu Traditional Houses are designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

Gufu Traditional Houses

Located in the new county town of Gufu, Xingshan County, dating back to the Qing Dynasty. They are part of the relocated and collectively reconstructed cultural heritage sites under the protection project for surface relics affected by the Three Gorges Dam. The site includes the Old House of Chen Boyan, the Old House of Wu Hanzhang, and Wangshan Gate. Both the Old House of Chen Boyan and the Old House of Wu Hanzhang feature brick-and-timber structures with mortise-and-tenon style wooden frameworks; Wangshan Gate is the western gate of the ancient Xingshan City, with the gate built of stone and featuring a round arched passageway.
