Baopingshan Outpost

Travel 30 kilometers east from the port to visit the Baopingshan Outpost. The main peak of Baopingshan stands at 504.2 meters above sea level. At the foot of the mountain lies the Heilongjiang River, flowing gently eastward, across which lies the Russian town of Baskovo. Here, you can use binoculars for a “close-up” view of Russians on the other side. Climbing to the summit of Baopingshan, you can gaze out over the grandeur of the north: looking across the river, endless fertile plains stretch far into the distance under the open sky; turning toward the Greater Khingan Mountains, vast mountain ranges layer upon layer, majestic and spectacular; and looking down at the river below, the mighty Heilongjiang flows eastward, its waves singing like a song, with the foreign town fully visible in the distance.
