National Highways 316 and 209 run through Zhangwan District, making this a scenic destination that combines leisure, entertainment, and sightseeing. The Xigou area features towering mountains, long winding streams, deep valleys, and ancient trees that reach to the sky. There are steep cliffs and glistening springs, sometimes fraught with danger. Starting from the Yanxi Shopping Mall at the Xigou entrance on National Highway 209, drive southeast along a flat southern loop road that winds like a ribbon through the lofty mountains. The murmuring stream is crystal clear, and waterfalls cascade into the Dragon Pool, resembling flying petals and shattered stones. Towering ancient trees along the way stand powerfully against the sky, and peculiar rocks rise majestically, offering breathtaking views. Xigou Waterfall is about 2 kilometers from the Xigou entrance, with the southern loop road running through it. The scenic area spans over 1,000 acres and is known for its extraordinary mountains and unique waters. Centered around the waterfall, the area offers recreational activities suitable for both adults and children, including a water park, fishing, archery, rock climbing, horseback riding, and bamboo forest bagua activities. The waterfall is about 15 meters high and 40 meters wide. Due to its significant drop, wide watershed, rugged rocks above the falls, and strong water flow, standing downstream, you’ll see the river plummeting from the sky and crashing against the rocks, resembling flying petals and shattered jade, golden cascades of silver, or pearls scattered across a jade plate. When hitting the rocks, the water splashes in all directions, shrouding the entire area in mist mixed with the fragrance of earth—making for an especially spectacular scene. Below the waterfall lies a lake with crystal-clear water. At its center is a small island covering over 20 acres, surrounded by willows providing ample shade. Boating on the lake, you can watch fish swimming beneath the surface, admire the cascading waterfall, and experience the feeling of “big and small pearls falling on a jade plate.” Observe people fishing along the shore, with green trees reflected in the water and the sky and water merging seamlessly. Stroll along the lakeside, where shimmering ripples sparkle brilliantly.
