Visa-free and duty-free Guam has seen a more than 20% increase in Taiwanese tourist visits from October last year to September this year compared to the same period the previous year, thanks to direct flights operated by both EVA Air and China Airlines. Every year, starting from Black Friday the day after Thanksgiving to the year’s biggest discount season early next year, it’s an ideal time to shop in Guam. This year, the Guam Tourism Bureau is holding its first-ever Guam Shopping Carnival during this period. It has also launched a global search for shopping ambassadors from various countries. The selected individuals will receive a free 12-day, 10-night trip to Guam, along with $6,000 USD in shopping credit. Their main task is to promote Guam tourism and share their travel experiences with others.

The “Guam Shopping Ambassador Taiwan Super Selection Competition,” organized by the Guam Tourism Bureau and co-hosted by Business Weekly Digital, began accepting entries and will close registration on October 16. The first round of preliminary judging will be based on “social influence” (30%), “writing and aesthetic appeal” (30%), and “online support” (40%). A combination of professional judges and online public voting will select 10 finalists, who will then move on to the second round of judging (October 18–28). During this stage, the public will vote on Facebook, and the candidate with the most votes will be chosen as the shopping ambassador.
