Located in three villages—Suozigou, Tielugou, and Lisigou—in Damiao Township, according to preliminary expert assessments, they were built by the Qin state among the seven warring states during the Warring States period to defend against attacks from the Chu state. The site stretches westward from Heping County and Ankang City in Shaanxi Province to Xichuan County in Henan Province.

Damiao Township: Located at the border between Hubei and Shaanxi provinces, Damiao Township in Zhushan County, Hubei Province, lies at the junction of two provinces, three counties, and eight townships. Residents on both sides live in close proximity, often straddling the provincial boundary. The township government is 101 kilometers from Zhushan County seat and 77 kilometers from Xunyang County seat. Since ancient times, there has been a saying about people here “facing Qin in the morning and Chu in the evening.” The township covers an area of 125 square kilometers, with 21,000 mu of arable land. It governs 12 administrative villages, 56 villager groups, 13 directly affiliated township institutions, a total of 3,575 households, and a population of 13,660.
