Shangqiu Normal University is located in Shangqiu City, Henan Province — a national-level historical and cultural city known as the origin of the Three Merchants and the Capital of Chinese Merchants. The city borders the coast to the east, connects to the Central Plains to the west, neighbors the Jianghuai region to the south, and adjoins the Qilu area to the north. Situated at the junction of Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu, and Anhui provinces, it lies at the golden transportation hub where the Beijing-Kowloon Railway, Longhai Railway, Zhengzhou-Xuzhou High-Speed Railway, and Zhengzhou-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway intersect. The history of Shangqiu Normal University dates back to 1905 with the establishment of “Guidede Prefecture Middle School.” Through wind and rain, its educational mission has continued uninterrupted. It has gone through stages such as Shangqiu Teachers College and Shangqiu Junior Teachers College, and was officially upgraded to Shangqiu Normal University in 2000 with approval from the Ministry of Education.

The university boasts complete teaching facilities and a beautiful campus. Currently, it has two campuses — Pingyuan Road Campus and Wenhua Road Campus — covering an area of over 2,000 acres with a total construction area of nearly 1.2 million square meters. The university is equipped with comprehensive teaching facilities, including 647 advanced research platforms, experimental teaching centers, and internship training centers, among which 7 are at the provincial level, 3 at the departmental level, and 6 are industry-university cooperation training centers. It has also built a Digital Foreign Language Teaching Center, a multi-functional studio, and various sports venues. The library holds a rich collection, with nearly 2 million volumes of printed books and 20 electronic resource databases. The total value of teaching instruments and equipment exceeds 200 million yuan. The campus environment is picturesque, featuring Spring Bright Lake, Summer Dream Lake, Autumn Rhyme Lake, Winter Peace Lake, and Wenshu Mountain. With pavilions, waterside pavilions, lotus flowers, weeping willows, rippling blue waters, and scenic landscapes, it serves as an ideal place for study and academic pursuit.
