Taiwan’s First Smoke-Free Cultural and Creative Park – Taichung Cultural and Creative Industries Park

The Taichung Cultural and Creative Industries Park is one of the nation’s five major cultural and creative parks and also the best-preserved among the existing five historic breweries. It recently announced that smoking is now completely banned both indoors and outdoors within the park, creating a fresh and clean environment for artistic and cultural performances. As the first smoke-free cultural park in central Taiwan, it aims to promote the goal of a “Healthy Taichung” through expanding smoke-free spaces, with the ambition of becoming the first city-wide smoke-free municipality.

The Taichung Cultural and Creative Industries Park is one of Taichung’s key venues for artistic and cultural performances, combining the nostalgic charm of the former brewery with modern architectural artistry to offer a highly postmodern exhibition space. It regularly hosts cultural and artistic events, making it a great leisure spot for local residents.

Deputy Mayor Tsai Ping-kun stated that in order to expand smoke-free environments, reduce secondhand smoke exposure, and enhance the quality of life and environmental conditions for citizens, the Taichung City Government Health Bureau, following the successful implementation of the “Smoke-Free National Science and Technology Museum,” will this year join forces with the Taichung Cultural and Creative Industries Park to advance towards more public smoke-free spaces.
