A cutting-edge, sci-fi-inspired green building – Taiwan’s most fashionable and innovative complex

Located within Zhongxing New Village in Nantou, there is an advanced research complex that blends culture, ecology, and technology — the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Central Taiwan Innovation Campus. Its stylish and avant-garde architecture has attracted many netizens to take photos, making it a popular photo spot. As part of the “Twelve Major Construction Projects” promoted by the Ma Ying-jeou administration, the campus aims to transform Taiwan’s central industries into innovation-driven R&D hubs. It builds on the successful experience of the open labs at the Industrial Technology Research Institute’s Zhongxing Campus while improving upon it, offering over 30 pieces of equipment available for rent.

The Central Taiwan Innovation Campus focuses on three major R&D areas: “Next-Generation Smart Machine Technology,” “Advanced Greenhouse System Technology,” and “Service Technology and Sensory Design Technology.” By leveraging the resources of two major institutions — the Industrial Technology Research Institute and the Institute for Information Industry — and combining them with local industry-academia R&D capabilities in the central region, the campus builds an innovation-driven industrial platform for central Taiwan. It also facilitates collaboration with key manufacturers for joint R&D efforts, supports the development of central Taiwan’s industries, fosters emerging sectors, and strengthens regional industrial clusters.
