The sites of Nanyang Sluice, Lijian Sluice, and the River God Temple are protected cultural heritage sites of Shandong Province.

The sites of Nanyang Sluice and the River God Temple are located in Nanyang Town and date back to the Yuan to Qing dynasties. They include the Nanyang Sluice and the site of the River God Temple.

On October 10, 2013, the sites of Nanyang Sluice and the River God Temple were designated as part of the fourth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units by the People's Government of Shandong Province.

Nanyang Town: Located on Nanyang Lake at the northern tip of Weishan Lake, Nanyang Town is traversed by the ancient Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It borders Jining City to the north, Fengxian and Pei counties in Jiangsu to the south, the sacred lands of Confucius and Mencius—Qufu and Zoucheng—to the east, and the hometown of peonies, Heze, to the west. Formerly part of Yutai County, it now belongs to Weishan County. In addition to Nanyang Island, over 80 small islands are scattered across the vast expanse of Nanyang Lake, creating a unique northern water town landscape dotted across the water.
