The Yinwa Site

The Yinwa Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Shandong Province.

The Yinwa Site is located 100 meters north of Yinwa Village, Huancheng Town, Weishan County, Shandong Province. It borders the Guanqiao-Xigang Railway to the north and the Jiwei Highway to the west. The site spans 500 meters from east to west and 400 meters from north to south, covering a total area of 200,000 square meters. The Yinwa Site has rich cultural content and belongs to the Dawenkou Culture of the Neolithic Age. It contains 2 to 3 cultural layers with a significant amount of pottery shards. In the late autumn of 1984, the Jining Cultural Relics Office organized an excavation, unearthing stone tools and gray pottery artifacts.

Huancheng Town: Huancheng Town is situated in the central part of Weishan County, on the eastern shore of Zhaoyang Lake, and serves as one of the key transportation hubs in southwestern Shandong. Ten kilometers to the west lies the Erji Dam control gate, bordering Pei County of Jiangsu Province, while five kilometers to the east it adjoins Zaozhuang City. It is often said that “one bridge divides two provinces, and ten li connect three counties.” The town is irregularly diamond-shaped, stretching 15 kilometers from southeast to northwest and 10 kilometers from east to west, with a total area of 133.4 square kilometers. It administers 8 management areas and 77 administrative villages, with a total population of 96,000 and cultivated land covering 65,000 mu.
