Ancient Volcanic Tomb Cluster

The volcanic ancient tomb cluster is a cultural heritage site protected by Jining City.

The volcanic tomb cluster is located about 1,000 meters west of Nanboliangbei Village in Liangcheng Township, Weishan County, Shandong Province, surrounding the volcano. Local villagers refer to it as the “Tomb of the Nine Maidens.” One group of Han Dynasty tombs is situated at the southwestern foot of the volcano, with the volcano to the north, the Baima River embankment to the west, and the Nanbotaotai site to the east. Another group is located within the Weishan County Skin Disease Prevention and Treatment Station, where one relatively large tomb originally had an earthen mound over three meters high, but it has now been leveled. Tomb stones and steles have also been found in the compound, some of which have been shattered.

Liangcheng Town: Located on the shore of Dushan Lake—one of the four southern lakes—Liangcheng Town covers a total area of 130 square kilometers, including 110,000 mu of water surface and 43,000 mu of arable land. It governs 48 administrative villages and has a population of 75,000.

Liangcheng derives its name from the Kuangcheng and Maocheng settlements of the Warring States period. With a long history, abundant talent, and a rich culture, the area has yielded significant archaeological finds such as the Nanbocun Northwest Taotai site from the Dawenkou Culture period, the Jijialin site from the Warring States period, Han Dynasty tombs, and Han Dynasty stone reliefs.
