Han Zhuang Hydraulic Hub

The Han Zhuang Hydraulic Hub is a cultural relic protection unit of Jining City.

The Han Zhuang Hub is located in Han Zhuang Town, Weishan County, Shandong Province, and is the main flood control outlet for the lower lake of the Nansihu Lake system. It provides integrated benefits such as water storage, flood discharge, irrigation, navigation, and road transportation. The hub consists of the Han Zhuang Sluice, Yijia River Sluice, Old Canal Sluice, Shengli Canal Head Sluice, and Liubridge Pumping Station. ⑴ Han Zhuang Sluice: Located in the southern part of Han Zhuang Town, Weishan County, Shandong Province, it is a key control project for diverting Nansihu Lake floods southward through the Han Zhuang Canal. As a large-scale sluice project, its primary functions are water storage and flood prevention. It has 31 bays, with radial steel gates, a total width of 435.6m, a designed flow rate of 2050 m³/s, and a verified flow rate of 4600 m³/s. ⑵ Yijia River Sluice: Located south of the Han Zhuang Sluice, it is a control project that diverts Nansihu Lake floods into the Yijia River. It underwent reinforcement for hazard mitigation in 1998. The sluice is 92.2m long, 27m wide in total, with 3 bays and flat steel gates; it has a designed flow rate of 200 m³/s and a verified flow rate of 400 m³/s. ⑶ Old Canal Sluice: Located at Baligou, Gushao Town, Yicheng District, Zaozhuang City, 300m upstream from where the Old Canal meets the Han Zhuang Canal, it was completed in December 1996. The sluice is 148.1m long, 39m wide in total, with 3 bays and radial steel gates; it has a designed flow rate of 250 m³/s and a verified flow rate of 500 m³/s. ⑷ Shengli Canal Head Sluice: Located at Baligou, Gushao Town, Yicheng District, Zaozhuang City, it was completed in January 2011. It has 3 bays, with a single bay clear width of 5m, and a designed water diversion flow rate of 53.5 m³/s. ⑸ Liubridge Pumping Station: Located in the northeast of Han Zhuang Town, Weishan County, Shandong Province, it was completed in November 1967. The pumping station has 12 axial-flow pumps (Type 70), with a total designed pumping flow rate of 18.24 m³/s, and an actual irrigated area of 240,000 mu.

Han Zhuang Town: Han Zhuang Town is situated in the southern part of Weishan County, on the eastern shore of Weishan Lake. It administers 10 management areas and 83 administrative villages, with a population of 72,000. In 2001, the town achieved a total social output value of 680 million yuan, including 470 million yuan from industrial and enterprise output, fiscal revenue of 5.46 million yuan, and a per capita net income of 2,850 yuan.

Convenient transportation, ample and low-cost electricity, and abundant lake resources have laid a solid foundation for Han Zhuang’s development.
