Yanshan Ge Xian Mountain is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Ge Xian Mountain is a famous Taoist mountain located in the central part of Yanshan County and is an offshoot of the Wuyi Mountains. From the main peak, you can see nine branch ridges that resemble nine coiling dragons soaring through the clouds with majestic momentum—this sight is known as the "Nine Dragons Soaring to the Summit."

In the distance, you can see the main peak of the Wuyi Mountains, Huanggang Mountain, Shangrao's Ling Mountain, and Yiyang's Guifeng. Viewed from afar, Ge Xian Mountain resembles a giant turtle rising amid the peaks and valleys, strikingly beautiful and steep. In the early Eastern Jin Dynasty, the renowned Taoist priest Ge Xuan came to Ge Xian Mountain to refine elixirs and spread his teachings, making it a well-known Taoist sacred site across Jiangxi, Fujian, and Zhejiang.

Ge Xian Temple: In the seventh year of the Yuanyou era of the Northern Song Dynasty (1092), Ge Xian Temple was built on Xianglu Peak of Ge Xian Mountain. After expansions during the Southern Song, Yuan, and Ming dynasties, it became a grand Taoist architectural complex. In addition to the Main Hall of Great Ge Xian Mountain, it includes the Three Officials Hall, Spirit Official Hall, Earth Mother Hall, and Jade Emperor Tower. The temple faces south and is built against the mountain, featuring iron tiles and stone gates. Inside the halls, numerous deities are enshrined, and ancient plaques hang on the walls.

Around the temple are historic sites such as the Guest-Greeting Pine, Sword-Testing Stone, Mounting Stone, Dismounting Stone, Self-Sacrifice Stone, Mind-Calming Rock, Immortal’s Footprints, Ascension Platform, Eye-Washing Immortal Spring, and Dragon Pool. Over the years, worshippers have come in an endless stream, especially on June 1st each year, known as the “Mountain Opening Day,” and October 1st, the “Mountain Closing Day.” August 20th is said to be the birthday of Ge Xian, and other significant days like July 19th and September 9th often attract over ten thousand pilgrims.
