Yanshan Huanggang Mountain

Huanggang Mountain is a mountain range that forms the border between Fujian and Jiangxi provinces. Its highest peak, at 2,158 meters above sea level, is located within Yanshan County, Jiangxi Province. The mountaintop is covered with daylilies (commonly known as golden needles), which bloom golden across the hillsides in August and September, creating a stunning sight. Huanggang Mountain is situated at the southernmost tip of Yanshan County, Shangrao City. It constitutes the main part of the Wuyishan National Nature Reserve in Jiangxi Province and is also the main peak of the Wuyi Mountains as well as the highest peak on the southeastern mainland. The area boasts rich flora and fauna, earning it the reputation of being a "window on the world’s biodiversity." Above 1,900 meters in elevation, the terrain is gently undulating due to past glacial erosion, resulting in a flat and rounded mountaintop with broad slopes. In the peripheral areas at elevations of around 1,000–1,500 meters, the mountains are steep and the valleys are deep. Climatically, it falls within the central subtropical humid zone of China but also exhibits distinct mountain climate characteristics. It is the region in Jiangxi Province with the least sunshine, the most rainfall, and the highest humidity. The mountaintop features subalpine meadows, dotted with wild daylilies, senecio, and other plants.
