Nine Lions Mountain

Nine Lions Mountain, the northern gateway of the county, is also known as the Dragon Gate. The river beneath the mountain is unfathomably deep, and it is said that one can reach the Dragon Palace from here, hence the name “First Pass of the Dragon Gate.” The five large characters “First Pass of the Dragon Gate,” now engraved on the cliffs, are still clearly visible. The Ming Dynasty “Tianru Temple” at the foot of the first peak of Nine Lions Mountain is a Buddhist temple from the Ming era, and beside the temple there is a natural pool — "Tianru Temple," it is said, bears an inscription in the handwriting of Emperor Kangxi.
