Shangli Wenbi Pagoda

Shangli Wenbi Pagoda is a cultural relic protection unit of Pingxiang City.

Wenbi Pagoda is located in Fushou Village, Changping Township, Shangli County, 26 kilometers from the urban area. It is a seven-story, eight-sided pagoda built during the Qing Dynasty.

The pagoda is constructed from blue hemp stone and is situated on the border between Shangli County and Xiangdong District. Legend has it that a lion once descended from the mountain to devour crops. The villagers consulted a feng shui master, who selected this site to build the pagoda to weigh down the lion’s head. Since then, the lion has been subdued, and there have been no further incidents of crops being eaten. In truth, the pagoda was primarily built by locals to protect the area’s feng shui.
