Calligraphers Create Spring Festival Couplets Live in Miaoli – Free to Take Home

To welcome the Year of the Dragon, the Miaoli County Government will hold a “2012 Spring Festival Couplet Writing Event” from tomorrow (the 11th) to January 13 at the lobby of the First Government Office Building. The event hours are 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Twenty-two renowned calligraphers, including Li Hongming, Xie Yingfang, and Tang Wenjie, have been invited to write couplets live, which will be available free of charge to the public. Meanwhile, the Miaonan Arts and Cultural Center will host a similar couplet-writing and distribution event on January 14 and 15 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Attendees can also choose their preferred couplet phrases on-site.

The Spring Festival live couplet-writing event has been held for many years, attracting numerous visitors eager to receive calligraphy works from master artists. This year, 22 celebrated calligraphers, including Li Hongming, Xie Yingfang, Tang Wenjie, and Huang Zhaoji, have been invited to participate. The Miaonan Arts and Cultural Center’s event will mainly feature local calligraphers from the Miaonan area, such as Xie Yifu, Chen Jinhuo, and Zhang Huangqian. The participating calligraphers each bring their unique styles, showcasing various scripts such as seal, regular, clerical, and running scripts. Their artistry brings the beauty of calligraphy vividly to life, creating an exquisite celebration of the written art.
