Beitou Mei Ting Celebrates Anniversary with Japanese Yukata and Hojicha Experiences

To celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the opening of Mei Ting, the former residence of Yu Youren, Mei Ting has launched a series of events under the theme “Winter Memories at Mei Ting: A Dual-Year Art Feast.” The first exhibition is “Lyricism, Ink, and Love,” which showcases paintings radiating a rich local affection, fully reflecting the simple and tranquil style of ink painting master Li Qimao, who takes “benevolence” as his foundation, complementing the vigorous charm of Yu Youren’s cursive calligraphy. Together, they add a unique and refined artistic atmosphere to Mei Ting.

On January 14 (Saturday), the “Dress Up at Mei Ting: Japanese Yukata Experience” event resonates with the elegant Japanese-style architecture of Mei Ting. Romantic couples are welcome to visit together to experience classic Japanese yukata attire and specialty hojicha tea. Additionally, to usher in the luck of the Year of the Dragon, on January 15, Mei Ting will offer its special “Cursive Calligraphy Spring Couplets,” inviting master calligraphers from the China Standard Cursive Script Association to write and give away couplets to the public. On the third day of the Lunar New Year, there will also be a festive lion dance performance by children, along with an opportunity for visitors to try writing their own spring couplets.

Zhao Xinpeng, Director of the Department of Information and Tourism, stated that since its opening by the Taipei City Government in early 2010, Mei Ting has welcomed over 500,000 visitors, successfully establishing itself as a new cultural and tourism attraction in the Xinbeitou area. To thank local figures and community organizations for their joint efforts in promoting cultural tourism, a series of celebratory events have been specially organized for the 2nd anniversary, aiming to enhance public awareness of the historical and architectural cultural tourism in the Xinbeitou region.
