The 2014 Miaoli Hakka Tung Blossom Festival’s Top 15 Tung Blossom Viewing Routes Guidebook Released

It’s that romantic season once again when spring snow falls gently. The 2014 Miaoli Hakka Tung Blossom Festival series of events will be grandly held across various townships in Miaoli County. To allow more travelers to explore the hidden gems of tung blossom viewing spots in the county and experience the unique hospitality of the Hakka people, the Miaoli County Government’s International Culture and Tourism Bureau has produced 44,000 copies of the tung blossom viewing guidebook "The Tung Blossom Storybook," which are available free of charge to the public. Gan Bitong, Director of the Miaoli County Government’s International Culture and Tourism Bureau, pointed out that the 15 featured tung blossom viewing theme routes listed in the guidebook are all top selections, and each has been personally inspected and surveyed. Each trail offers unique characteristics, allowing visitors of all ages to choose trails that suit their physical abilities. The guidebook information is also provided in both Chinese and English, making it easy for foreign visitors to navigate as well.

 

This year, during the tung blossom festival from April to May, 28 groups in Miaoli County have carefully planned over 180 events. The tung blossom viewing guidebook includes information on these events, categorized by township, saving travelers time in planning their itineraries. It also compiles discount offers from 36 hospitable local shops and a list of high-quality local specialty gift shops in the county, along with a directory of licensed accommodations and information on featured dining spots in Miaoli.

 

Gan Bitong, Director of the Miaoli County Government’s International Culture and Tourism Bureau, stated that residents of Miaoli County can obtain the guidebook at the service desks of the Miaoli County Government’s First Office Building, the Second Office Building, the Miaoli County Government’s International Culture and Tourism Bureau, 18 township and city offices, the Zhunan Railway Station Tourism Service Center, the Miaoli Railway Station Tourism Service Center, the Miaoli County Tourism Service Center, the Nanzhuang Visitor Center, the Hakka Cultural Park in Miaoli, the Miaobei Arts and Cultural Center, the Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum, the Wenshui Visitor Center of Shei-Pa National Park, the Miaoli Craft Park, the Miaoli County Central Library, and 36 discount-participating shops — a total of 67 locations. Visitors from other counties or cities can obtain the guidebook at the six tourism service centers of the Tourism Bureau under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications that feature yellow identification, 46 tourism service centers in various cities and counties, and 35 city and county visitor service centers. Supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
