To welcome the arrival of the Year of the Dragon, Miaoli County Government will hold the "2012 Spring Festival Couplets Calligraphy Event" from tomorrow (the 11th) to January 13, from 9 AM to 12 PM and from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, inviting 22 renowned calligraphers including Li Hongming, Xie Yingfang, and Tang Wenjie to showcase their skills live. Free festive couplets will be available for the public to take home. Meanwhile, the Miaonan Arts and Culture Center will host a similar event on January 14 and 15 from 9 AM to 11:30 AM and from 2 PM to 4:30 PM, where visitors can also choose their preferred couplet phrases.

The Spring Festival live calligraphy event has been held for many years, attracting numerous visitors who come specifically to receive calligraphy works by master artists. This year, 22 celebrated calligraphers will demonstrate their skills on-site, including Li Hongming, Xie Yingfang, Tang Wenjie, and Huang Zhaoji. The Miaonan Arts and Culture Center will feature local calligraphers from the Miaonan area, such as Xie Yifu, Chen Jinhuo, and Zhang Huangqian. The participating calligraphers each bring their unique styles, using scripts such as seal, regular, clerical, and running scripts, showcasing the art of calligraphy in all its splendor — a true feast for enthusiasts.
