To celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the opening of Meiting, the former residence of Yu Youren, Meiting has launched a series of events titled “Winter Memories at Meiting: A Dual-Year Art Feast.” The first exhibition on display is “Lyricism, Ink, and Love,” which exudes a rich local affection through its paintings, fully reflecting the simple and serene artistic style of ink painting master Li Qimao, who values “benevolence.” This is beautifully complemented by the vigorous charm of Yu Youren’s cursive calligraphy, adding a uniquely elegant cultural ambiance to Meiting.

On January 14 (Saturday), the “Appreciate Elegance at Meiting: Japanese Yukata Experience” event resonates with Meiting’s refined Japanese-style architecture. Romantic couples are welcome to visit Meiting together to experience elegant Japanese yukata and distinctive hojicha tea. Additionally, to welcome the auspicious Year of the Dragon, on January 15, Meiting will offer its unique “Cursive Calligraphy Spring Festival Couplets,” inviting master calligraphers from the China Standard Cursive Script Association to write and give away couplets to the public. On the third day of the Lunar New Year, there will also be a festive lion dance performance by children to mark the start of the new year, along with an opportunity for the public to try their hand at writing their own spring couplets.

Zhao Xinpeng, Director of the Department of Information and Tourism, stated that since its opening by the Taipei City Government in early 2010, Meiting has welcomed over 500,000 visitors and has successfully developed into a new cultural and tourism attraction in the Xinbeitou area. To thank local figures and community organizations for their joint efforts in promoting cultural tourism, a series of celebratory events have been specially organized to mark the 2nd anniversary. It is hoped that these activities will enhance the public’s impression of the historical architecture and cultural tourism in the Xinbeitou area.
