Martyr Deng Zhenqian’s Tomb

Martyr Deng Zhenqian’s Tomb is a cultural relic protection unit of Pingxiang City.

Deng Zhenqian, also known as Deng Zhongjian, was born in 1907 into a poor farming family at Huayuantai in Penggao Town. In the autumn of 1923, he was admitted to Pingxiang Middle School. During his time in Pingxiang, he often associated with progressive young students such as Kong Yuan, Zhang Guotao, and Liu Xing, actively organizing and personally participating in patriotic student movements across the school, and joining the progressive student group “Mutual Aid Society” at Pingxiang Middle School.

In the autumn of 1926, he graduated from Pingxiang Middle School and was admitted to Peking Normal University. After the summer vacation of 1927, he resolutely sacrificed his personal interests, gave up the opportunity to attend university, and devoted himself entirely to the revolution, engaging in the great cause of human liberation. He returned to Pingxiang as a special envoy to engage in the peasant movement. In 1927, at an expanded meeting of the CPC Anyuan Municipal Committee, the 20-year-old was elected as a member of the CPC Anyuan Municipal Committee. At the end of that year, he was sent to Xiangdong to serve as district party secretary. At the same time, he also took on the liaison duties between the Anyuan Municipal Committee and the Jinggangshan Base Area. He made multiple trips to and from Jinggangshan, escorting confidential documents, transporting revolutionary comrades, and meeting Comrade Mao Zedong on several occasions.

In April 1928, he was arrested in Nanjing. At noon on June 8, the reactionary forces of the Kuomintang brutally executed Comrade Deng Zhenqian under a tea tree outside the Daxi Gate of Pingcheng. He was just 21 years old that year.
