The Ancient Camphor Tree of Likou is a cultural relic protection unit of Shangli County.

The Ancient Camphor Tree of Likou is located by the Likou River in Shangli Town, Shangli County. Planted in 1704, it stands 15 meters tall with a canopy spanning 30 meters from north to south and 25 meters from east to west. It remains evergreen all year round and boasts lush foliage.

The protected area around the Ancient Camphor Tree of Likou extends 5 meters in all directions, while the construction control zone spans 10 meters, with a height limit of 10 meters within that zone.

According to local elders, no one knows exactly how old the tree is, but forestry experts have estimated its age to be over a thousand years. It has stood by the Likou River for centuries, maintaining its dense, verdant foliage year after year. It even served as a filming location for the movie “A Little House Under the Moonlight.” Professor Liu Qian from the Central Academy of Fine Arts featured it in one of his art books.
