Tianjin Qingshanling Jingsong Garden

Tianjin Jingsong Garden is located at the foot of the Great Wall in the northern part of Jizhou District. It earned its name for its abundance of pine trees and is widely renowned for its profound pine culture.

The pine trees here, backed by majestic mountains, take on striking forms under nature’s magic—tall, sturdy, and uniquely shaped. Each pine tree is worthy of poetic praise, and every one could become a beautiful painting. When the north wind howls and the mountains and plains wither, with leaves and branches of all other plants turning bleak and bare, only the pine forest in Jingsong Garden stands tall and proud against the sky. The King Pine has a history of over a thousand years, standing 33 meters tall with a girth of 4.36 meters. Ancient vines coil around it, and its branches are lush and verdant. Emperor Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty once remarked, “Of all the pines I’ve seen, only this one deserves to be king,” and thus bestowed upon it the title “King Pine.” Beneath the umbrella-shaped “Eagle Perch Pine” lies a massive rock, 1.5 meters long, 1.2 meters wide, and 0.68 meters high, which can seat two people side by side. Back in the day, when Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty came here for hunting, he often enjoyed wine and conversation with a local villager named Wei Sanyuan on this rock, discussing life and farming. Hence, it is called “Crouching Dragon Rock.” The area also boasts numerous natural and cultural attractions that are equally captivating and awe-inspiring. Clearwater Lake offers “still waters so clear, reflecting lotus blooms”—a scene straight out of poetry and painting. The Ancestor Chestnut Tree is lush and leafy, yet its trunk is hollow, providing shelter for five or six people from the rain. The Hundred Fruit Garden is laden with ripe fruits, its fragrance drifting for miles, while the Hundred Flower Garden remains in vibrant bloom as if spring never leaves. The ancient Great Wall from the Northern Qi Dynasty, wartime tunnels that once safeguarded the nation, and the Longquan Ancient Well from the Ming Dynasty all stand in the sunset, narrating the vicissitudes of history.

“Jingsong Garden” serves as a vessel of pine culture, offering inspiration and refining one’s temperament. It is a perfect destination for modern people to immerse themselves in nature and unwind.
