The Shiqu Garden scenic area features six major attractions: the Wanfo Temple, the National Flag Expo Zone, the Eighty-Seven Immortals Scroll Cliff Painting, the Qingcheng Art Museum, the Strange Stone Mountain, and Panshan Lake. It is a distinctive folk tourism destination known for its oddities. The garden boasts the Wanfo Temple, the largest Buddhist temple in eastern Beijing that houses the complete “Three Jewels” of Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, as well as a distinctive medical stone hot spring bath. The key highlights include the Wanfo Temple, the Strange Stone Mountain, the Eighty-Seven Immortals Scroll Cliff Painting, and the Yu Qingcheng Clay Sculpture Museum. The Strange Stone Mountain is covered with oddly shaped rocks that look remarkably lifelike and create a whimsical atmosphere. The Yu Qingcheng Clay Art Museum displays works full of rural charm, ingeniously conceived, and imbued with great artistic charm. Particularly captivating is the “Eighty-Seven Immortals Scroll Cliff Painting,” carved into a stone dam. Its visionary concept and massive scale surpass ordinary imagination. Originally a masterpiece by the famous Tang Dynasty painter Wu Daozi, the original painting is now housed in the Xu Beihong Museum. The cliff painting is a spectacular mural depicting 87 celestial beings drifting gracefully, each with serene and unrestrained expressions. Covering an area of 3,200 square meters, it holds the Guinness World Record as the largest of its kind. On the back side of the cliff painting lies the scenic Shenxian Lake, surrounded by mountains on three sides. With its azure waters and gentle waves stirred by the wind, the lake instantly brings tranquility to the heart. During summer and autumn, when the lake overflows, it forms a grand waterfall whose roar can be heard for miles.
The garden houses over 30 natural attractions and eight cultural sites. The largest statue of the Three Saints of the West in China enshrined in the Wanfo Temple, the Guinness World Record-holding Eighty-Seven Immortals Scroll Cliff Painting, and the clay sculptures by folk artist Yu Qingcheng are known as the “Three Astonishing Wonders.” In addition, the Qingcheng Art Museum, the Ancient Pagoda Exhibition Hall, historical relics, and the medical stone hot spring baths all offer uniquely novel and intriguing experiences.
Shiqu Garden is a recently developed tourist destination, a masterpiece combining nature’s craftsmanship with human artistry. It is a sacred site embodying the unity of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism.
