Shanhu Island Scenic Area

Shanhu Island Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Shanhu Island Resort, known as the "Dream Island," is located in the middle and upper reaches of the Min River and is named after a thousand-year-old youshan (Chinese fir) tree on the island. The resort enjoys convenient transportation and a prime location. It is 20 kilometers from the highway exit, 1 kilometer from the national road entrance, 170 kilometers from Wuyishan Airport, and 140 kilometers from Fuzhou, the provincial capital. The island spans an area of over 40,000 square meters (more than 80 acres), surrounded by water on all sides, and boasts pleasant scenery. The resort is fully equipped with essential facilities, including a visitor center covering more than 20 acres, a standard eco-friendly parking lot, star-rated public toilets, shopping areas, and rest zones, offering comprehensive services. Known as the "Kingdom of Plants and the Land of Exotic Flowers and Grasses," Shanhu Island features a thousand-year-old ancient fir, century-old camphor trees, cacti, magnolia, peonies, azaleas, mimosa, as well as fruits like papaya and pomelo. Throughout the year, fruits are in season and flowers bloom in profusion, creating beautiful scenery and making it an ideal destination for leisure and entertainment. In December 2013, the Shanhu Island Resort was rated as a Four-Star Rural Tourism Operation Unit in Fujian Province.

The Shanhu Island Resort is the only island-style rural leisure resort in Fujian Province. With the features of "enjoying mountain and water views, tasting Taiwanese flavors, and experiencing Taiwanese folk culture," it is a comprehensive rural tourism operation unit integrating "eating, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment." It allows visitors to experience an eco-tourism adventure completely different from urban life and is being developed into the "Little Taiwan of Nanping."

The Shanhu Island Resort offers a full range of tourism activities, not only rich in Taiwanese homestay characteristics but also highly interactive and participatory. Since its official opening in February 2012, the resort has provided various tourism activities such as recreational programs, health and spa centers, fitness trails, barbecue areas, speedboats on the water, water golf, a happy farm, rock climbing areas, wellness hydrotherapy SPA, and a parent-child interactive experience zone featuring over ten activities. These attractions have drawn visitors from both within and outside the province, increasingly demonstrating the resort’s tourism economic and social benefits.
