New flower-viewing spot unveiled for the season of romance – a stunning sea of blooms along Taipei’s Yanping Riverside in late autumn

Taipei has a brand-new flower-viewing attraction Up！Since the flower fields in Taichung’s Xinshe and the chrysanthemum exhibition at Taipei’s Shilin Official Residence opened, the whole country has been swept up in a flower-viewing craze, with popular spots overcrowded.The Taipei City Government’s Public Works Department, Bureau of Water Resources, recommends visiting Yanping Riverside, where a romantic sea of over 50,000 seasonal flowers awaits, with the viewing period lasting until late December.

The flower-viewing spot is located near Dunhuang Wharf and can be reached by bicycle in about 10 minutes from Dadaocheng Wharf heading north. The flower sea consists of over 50,000 seasonal blooms, featuring crabapple flowers alone in four colors—red, peach, pink, and white—as well as purple salvia, yellow cosmos, and gazania, forming a vibrant ribbon-like flower sea. The wave-patterned motifs further highlight the unique landscape features of this riverside park.

In addition, nearby there's the recently popular“Taipei Light Board”, made up of 17,280 metal pieces that shift in color and create stunning light-and-shadow effects from day to dusk, making it a favorite spot for photos and social media check-ins. Meanwhile, the elevated riverside viewing platform at Dihua Sports Park offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Tamsui River, with spacious and comfortable seating where visitors can relax and enjoy the scenic tranquility of the riverside.

The Water Resources Bureau stated that the current period until late December is the peak flowering season and reminds the public to make the most of this optimal time.Additionally, you can plan a short one-day trip over the weekend, cycling to admire the flower sea at Yanping Riverside and visiting nearby attractions such as Dadaocheng Wharf and Dihua Street, then strolling through Yongle Market and Ningxia Night Market in the evening—great options all around.
