Yanping Lake

Yanping Lake is a national water conservancy scenic area.

Covering a total area of 112 square kilometers, Yanping Lake has a water surface area of approximately 40 square kilometers. It consists of the Sanjiang Embankment Scenic Area, the Hundred-Mile Min River Scenic Belt, and the Mangdang Mountain Ecotourism Area. Specifically: 1. Sanjiang Embankment Scenic Area. This scenic area is formed by the Yanping City Flood Control Embankment, which was built with an investment of over 100 million yuan by the water conservancy department, stretching a total length of 13.3 kilometers. The scenic area features an exquisitely carved and richly contented “Nanping Gallery,” three bustling commercial and entertainment zones, four widely renowned historic towers, nine uniquely designed bridges, as well as various uniquely shaped, ingeniously crafted viewing pavilions, sculptures, and leisure walkways, making the Sanjiang Embankment Scenic Area a garden-like “premium art and civilization corridor.” Coupled with the elaborately designed night scene project, the Sanjiang Embankment has become the “Bund” of Northern Fujian, a top destination for tourists and locals for sightseeing, leisure, and entertainment. 2. Hundred-Mile Min River Scenic Belt. The scenic area extends from Nanping City to Zhanghu Town in Yanping District, spanning over 50 kilometers, with 66 reservoir bays that dot attractions such as Yanping urban area, Dazhou, Tumu Zhou (Baolong Zhou), Shanhu Island, and Bai’ge Islands. The reflections of green mountains on both banks create beautiful lake-and-mountain scenery. Historic sites, Neo-Confucian culture, military culture, snake culture, and Min River water culture form a splendid corridor showcasing the introduction of Central Plains culture into Fujian. 3. Mangdang Mountain Ecotourism Area. Located near the lakeside suburbs of Nanping City, this scenic area includes attractions such as Xiyuan Gorge, Shifo Mountain, Thirty-Eight-Hundred Steps, Tianhu (Heavenly Lake), Mengtongyang, Baozhu, and Lianhua Mountain. Notable sights include the East China region’s premier forest waterfall cluster, the remarkably lifelike Mao Zedong Peak, the naturally formed Guanyin Rock, Mandarin Duck Rocks, and a cluster of covered bridges. The Mangdang Mountain scenic area has an average negative ion concentration of 26,456 ions/cm³, peaking at over 100,000 ions/cm³, making it a classic natural oxygen bar in Fujian and the ideal destination for leisure, wellness, and summer retreat.

Railway: (1) Take relevant trains from Fuzhou Railway Station to Nanping. (2) Take relevant trains from Xiamen Railway Station to Nanping.

Road: (1) Take a bus from Fuzhou Long-Distance Bus Station along the Fuyin Expressway to Nanping, then transfer to a local bus on Binjiang Road to reach related attractions. (2) Take a bus from Fuzhou Long-Distance Bus Station along the Fuyin Expressway to Nanping, then transfer to a local bus on Binjiang Road to reach related attractions. (3) Take a bus from Xiamen Long-Distance Bus Station along the Quansan Expressway or Fuxia Expressway to Nanping, then transfer to a local bus on Binjiang Road to reach related attractions.

Accommodation: There are nearly 140 types of lodging facilities including star-rated hotels, farmhouse restaurants, and budget hotels, with a total of nearly 10,000 beds, capable of hosting 2 million visitor-nights annually.
