"The Marvelous Stone of the World" – Mandarin Duck Stones

A pair of naturally formed "Mandarin Duck Stones" in Nanping sit atop Hongqi Peak, the highest mountain in the urban area at an elevation of 1,363 meters, surrounded by rolling hills. The stones strikingly resemble a devoted pair of inseparable mandarin ducks gracefully floating on emerald waters—the male preening its feathers and lifting its head, while the female closely follows, the two birds nestled tightly together. Their affectionate posture is vividly lifelike. This site is embraced by verdant mountains and encircled by clear waters, often shrouded in year-round mist with occasional sea-of-clouds displays.
